Aciclovir is suitable for herpes simplex virus infection, for the initial and recurrent cases of genital herpes virus infection, and for the prevention of recurrent cases. Herpes zoster is used for the treatment of herpes zoster and mild cases of immune deficiency in people with normal immune function, and the treatment of chicken pox in people with immune deficiency.
